What an RRNC Rough-In Includes
Four components, per EPA radon-resistant new construction practice. A gas-permeable layer under the slab, typically four inches of clean aggregate, which your job likely has anyway. Perforated collection piping or a soil-gas mat tied into a tee below the slab. A sealed vertical riser, three or four inch PVC, run through an interior chase to a capped stub in the attic with a service outlet nearby. And sealing details at the big penetrations. Poured, framed, done: the house now has a passive radon system that often keeps levels down on stack effect alone.
Passive Now, Active Only If Needed
Here's the part owners like. After move-in, a 48-hour test tells you whether the passive stack is enough. Under 4.0, most are, and you're finished; the system just sits in the walls as cheap insurance and a selling point. Over 4.0, activating it means wiring a fan into the attic stub we left, an hour of work, no core drilling, no exposed pipe, no scanner hunting post-tension cables through your finished floors. How We Work With Builders
Single custom lots to small phases. We coordinate with your super and plumbing sub, show up between utility rough-in and vapor barrier, and are off the pad the same day. $400 to $850 per lot depending on slab size and whether we're supplying the aggregate spec or just the piping and riser. Plan sets get a one-page detail drawing your inspector can initial. And if you'd rather your own crews lay the pipe, we'll spec it and do the final connections and QA for less.
